Human Sexuality Seminar
Beginning on Sunday, January 17th
First Presbyterian Church, in conjunction with Council for Relationships, will offer a six week seminar exploring human sexuality.
Why, one may ask, are we offering such a seminar? Author, Rev. Cynthia Breen suggests the following:
“To offer sexuality education in a congregation is to acknowledge that human sexuality is simply too important, too beautiful, and too potentially dangerous to be ignored in a religious community. Sexuality education gives families and individuals of all ages the benefit of community support as they wrestle with sexuality issues and decisions.”
“Introducing sexuality education into your congregation can be a wonderful opportunity to put faith into action. It can show members that sexuality education contributes to an objective held dear by virtually all people of faith: respect and justice for all, deserving of all. It can offer your congregation the opportunity to articulate and live these ideals, making it a richer source of life, hope, and support.”
The first two weeks of the seminar will be biology oriented.
Weeks three and four will visit the relational aspects of sexuality, giving us a greater understanding of ourselves, our partners, and those around us.
The final two weeks will delve into religious and spiritual aspects where we will examine both corporate church and individual values.
The seminar is appropriate, and designed, for anyone age 18 or older. It will be held in the Parlor from 9:35-10:35, Sundays Jan. 17 – Feb. 21.Through special arrangement, this seminar is free. Questions? Call 610-933-8816.
