If you have any problems viewing a PDF document with the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in for Internet Explorer on Windows, do one of the following:

 

1. Modify Acrobat Reader to function as a Helper application (launching it's own window to display the PDF), rather than a Plug-in (launching directly into the browser window). This works well.

 

a.      Close the web browser(s)

b.     Start Acrobat Reader 5

c.      Select Edit/Preferences.

d.     In the left hand column of preferences select 'Options'

e.      On the right hand side remove the tick from 'Display PDF in Browser'

f.      Click on OK

g.     Close Adobe Acrobat 5

 

OR

 

2. At the PDF link, right-mouse click and select “Save Target as…” to save the file on your hard drive or floppy (Remember to save the file with a .pdf extension). You will then be able to view the file directly through Acrobat. This also works but requires extra time consuming steps.

 

Macintosh and Netscape users should not encounter any  problems.
